What is “Account Sharing”?
At PropertyShark, our system monitors signs of multiple simultaneous log-ins from different devices or browsers under a single account. This helps protect your account, your data, and maintain fair use of our service.
How the system detects it
The following scenarios may trigger our “Account Sharing” alert:
- Two or more people using the same account at the same time (e.g., in the office and off-site).
- You sign in on one device (for example, your work computer) and then open a second session on a different device (for example, home desktop) without logging out.
- Your device stays signed-in, then gets turned off or disconnected, and you sign in again on a second browser - the system may interpret this as a second session.
- Using multiple browsers or sessions from different locations simultaneously.
Why this matters
- Prevents unauthorized access and keeps your account secure.
- Ensures that usage limits (such as report views) are fairly applied.
- Maintains system integrity for all users.
What you can do
To avoid seeing the “Account Sharing” alert and to keep your sessions secure:
- Sign out when you finish using PropertyShark on one device before signing in on another browse or device.
- Clear your browser’s cache or cookies if the system mistakenly thinks you’re still signed-in somewhere.
- If you receive the alert despite following the steps above, please reach out to our Support Team - we’ll help identify any session conflict and reset your active sessions.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Q: Will I lose data or reports if my account is flagged?
A: No - your data and reports remain intact. The alert is about session activity, not content. If you’re unsure, contact our Support team.
Q: I logged out but still got the message - what should I do?
A: Make sure there are no hidden browser tabs or devices signed in. Clear your browser’s cache/cookies, then sign in again. If problem persists, contact our Support Team with details of device and browser used.
