Photo Contributor Program & Guidelines

What is the Photo Contributor Program?

The Photo Contributor Program allows customers to earn free access to PropertyShark in exchange for uploading property photographs. In return for contributing high-quality images, contributors receive a complimentary subscription with several benefits.

Subscriber benefits include:

• 500 reports per month
• 2,000 mailing list exports
• 1,000 compact reports
• Access to Comparables
• Access to Pre-Foreclosures and Foreclosures

To enroll, you’ll need to contact our Customer Support team. Once approved, you must meet monthly photo-upload commitments depending on your plan (see below).

How Many Photos Must You Upload?

Your upload requirements depend on your access level:

*The first month’s requirement is double the standard quota.

If you fail to meet the monthly quota, access via the contributor benefit may be revoked or suspended.

Submission Guidelines & Standards

To maintain consistency, quality, and variety in our image collection, contributors must adhere to the following rules:

1. No duplicate or overly similar images: We no longer accept photos that are duplicates or nearly identical to ones already submitted. This helps diversify our image library.
2. Quality and relevance: Photos should clearly represent real estate properties, buildings, or architectural features. Images should be in focus, properly exposed, and composed (not blurry or overly edited).
3. Proper naming, formatting, and metadata: Use descriptive file names (e.g. “123 Main St – front facade.jpg”) and ensure metadata (date, location) is accurate where possible.
4. Image rights and permissions: You must have the legal rights or permission to upload and share the images. Do not submit copyrighted images that you do not own or have license to share.
5. Variety in subject matter and angle: Avoid oversaturating the collection with similar shots (e.g. many nearly identical front-façade pictures). Include interior, exterior, side views, detail shots (doors, windows, architectural elements), etc.
6. Compliance with Content Policies: Do not include personal identifiers, people’s faces (unless you have releases), sensitive content, or anything violating local laws or our terms of service.
7. Timeliness: Where possible, upload relatively recent photos (taken within a few years), especially for major changes (renovations, new construction). Older, outdated photos may be rejected.

If your submissions fail to meet these guidelines, they may be rejected or you may be asked to retake and reupload.

How to Get Started

1. Contact customer support (phone or email) to enroll in the program.
2. Once approved, begin uploading photos monthly according to your plan.
3. Review and follow the submission guidelines to avoid rejections.
4. Maintain the monthly quota; failure to do so may affect your access.
