Why this matters
Browsing properties visually on the map gives you spatial context, helps you spot clusters, identify neighborhoods, and quickly zero-in on opportunities. With the map tool you can locate an address or parcel, view its key data, and layer in extra map information for deeper research.
What you’ll do
- Search for a specific address or parcel ID.
- Open a quick “mini report” from the map pin to view building class, square footage, owner, sale history.
- Apply additional map layers to filter and explore properties that align with your strategy.
1. Locate a Property
- Switch to the “Property Lists” tab (upper-left).
- Enter the address or Parcel ID in the search box.
- A pin drops on the map - click it to open the mini-report for that property.
- From the mini report you can view: building class, lot & building square footage, FAR, current owner, most recent sale.
- To open the full report, click the address at the top of the mini‐report.
2. Apply Map Layers for Deeper Insight
- Click the “Maps” tool.
- Select the “Maps & Layers” tab (upper-left) then click “Get More Maps” to browse available layers.
- Choose layers that match your criteria (zones, tax parcels, building outlines, crime data, etc.).
- View properties in context of those layers - e.g., parcels in a zoning district you’re targeting, buildings above a certain size, adjacent vacant lots, etc.
Pro Tips
- Use the search box to quickly jump to a known address rather than navigating manually.
- Use polygon drawing tools (if available) to capture a custom area and then narrow in.
- Toggle off layers you don’t need to keep the map clean and focused.
- Use map pins as “bookmarks” for later: when you click them and tag/label in your workflow, you can export the list and avoid revisiting the same items.
